Ivan Crnojević's Mill

The mill of Ivan Crnojević in the today's Bishop's garden was most probably built in the 80s of the XV century. It was built by Ivan Crnojević for the needs of the court and local population, at the confluence of the right arm of Cetina, the subterranean river that flowed through Cetinje's Field until the end of the seventeenth century.

Cetinja branched into two arms at the Vlah Church, one towards the Cetinje Monastery and the other towards the large pit in Donje Polje. Even at the beginning of the XX century, wheat was still ground in the mill, with the help of water which, during heavy rains, drained towards the pit and collected in a fenced pothole. The mill was probably slightly rebuilt during that period and later renovated several times.
